Come on down to the Hotel Utah Saloon in San Francisco on Saturday April 27th for a filmmaker and musician meet-up and day concert by some super talented folks. We’ll also have a talk by Ryan Kittleman, founder of Colony Pictura, a boutique law firm representing Bay Area artists and creative professionals. He will be presenting a brief talk and Q+A about music and film law issues, including licensing, contracts, and copyrights. Full schedule in the image above and here.

I just saw Peter Hook, bassist of Joy Division and New Order, chatting it up with David Pescovitz on stage at the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco. He’s got a new book out about what it was like to be a legend, contributing to the genesis of two musical genres. I’ll be reading the book to get the full dirt on the pranks they used to trade with the Buzzcocks on tour, and for the other behind the scenes goodies Hook alluded to this evening.

“Eirik Solheim is an amazing geek and CC activist at NRK, the Norwegian public broadcaster. He writes, “We filmed a train ride four times. One time for each season; winter, spring, summer and autumn. Then we used an accurate GPS-track to sync the four videos using some clever programming in combination with after effects. Giving us endless possibilities for spectacular video footage. You can watch it on the web, but we have also made it available for everyone to download in full HD — and licensed it with Creative Commons so that you can edit, remix and share!”“

There is a bunch of technical information about how they time-remapped the footage in After Effects and other fun stuff on the project site. What a great use of technology, I can’t wait to see the remixes that come out of this project.

Have you seen this!? Part Takashi Murakami, part Pee Wee’s Playhouse, part Chris Piascik’s crazy hand-drawn-text, part green screen experiment, all with some Kraft macaroni and cheese (paid?) product placement. I sort of feel like if that doesn’t get you to watch the video, then you’re just too busy or something. Also, 42 million views.

The artist is blogger and Harajuku Girl Kyary Pamyu Pamyu and PONPONPON means clap clap clap, or maybe CLAPCLAPCLAP. I’m having a difficult time tracking down the director of the video, but the set was created by Sebastian Masuda of 6%DOKIDOKI.
